Cattle — Charts

Grazing minutes vs THI

What it shows: each dot = one GPS segment; x = heat stress (THI), y = minutes spent grazing in that segment. How to read: a rising cloud means more heat correlates with longer grazing; a flat cloud means little relationship.

Grazing probability by THI band

What it shows: share of segments with grazing (Yes/No) inside each THI category (comfort → danger). How to read: taller bar = more likely to graze under that heat category.

Diurnal P(grazing) by heat category

What it shows: probability of grazing by hour of day, split by THI band. How to read: peaks indicate preferred grazing hours; compare colors to see how heat changes the daily pattern.

Grazing minutes — dry vs rain

What it shows: distributions of grazing minutes in dry vs rainy segments (median line, box = IQR, whiskers = range). How to read: higher median or box = generally longer grazing under that condition.

Grazing minutes vs wind speed

What it shows: segment minutes vs wind (m/s). How to read: any slope or pattern suggests wind influences time spent grazing.

Grazing minutes vs sunshine

What it shows: segment minutes vs sunshine minutes for that hour. How to read: upward trend = more grazing with more sun; downward = the opposite.

Total duration by animal (minutes)

What it shows: which animals contribute most total grazing time (or segment count if duration missing). How to read: bigger slice = more total minutes/segments.

Segment duration distribution

What it shows: how segment lengths are distributed. How to read: bars to the right mean longer segments are common.

Temperature over time (avg by hour)

What it shows: hourly average of temperature across points. How to read: seasonal/diurnal swings, warm/cool spells during the study.

Average temperature by animal

What it shows: mean temp recorded with each animal’s segments. How to read: differences can reflect timing/locations of each animal’s data.

Grazing behaviour

What it shows: overall split of “grazing” vs “not grazing” segments (filtered by animal). How to read: the proportion of time labeled as grazing.
